ORIGIN OF THE NAME “CAPVESPRE”
Until the second half of the 20th century the agriculture lives a time of splendor and brightness that means knowledge, culture, landscape, values, quality… it's the time of the light, the day.
The Agriculture's decline causes the loss of these values, which is the reason why the perception of them is in danger…this moment stands for the darkness, the night.
The Centre “Capvespre”, the afternoon, pretends to use the transition from day to night, when the light still gives us the chance to perceive the abundance of the perishing day and to document it and save it at least partially from its disappearance, for the knowledge and profit of future generations.
AIM OF THE CENTRE
To attract the interest of our visitants to get to know our products, systems and methods of cultivation and harvesting, of the reality of our farmers who are still cultivating and producing quality products with environmentally sustainable techniques.
Obtain an added value to the productions which permits the farmer to maintain his interest in cultivating and producing.
CONFIGURATION OF THE VALLEY
Traditionally the cultivation of olive trees covered practically the whole of the cultivable surface.
Since the middle of the 18th century citrus fruits began to be grown. In this time this fruits were reserved for the kings table.
The excellent adaptation and the quality of the fruits made the citriculture replace the olive groves below the water level of the aquifers.
In this center we reproduce the area of “huertas” (vegetable growing areas) on the ground floor which means below of the level of the fountains and the olive groves, which grow without watering, above them.
